Pregnancy Portraits & Your Hospital Bag: A Must-Have Checklist for New Orleans Moms-to-Be

Pregnancy is such a beautiful and fleeting time. As a New Orleans photographer, I love capturing the radiant glow of expectant mothers during their pregnancy portrait sessions.

But as your due date approaches, it’s also important to be prepared for the big day. Packing your hospital bag can feel overwhelming, so I wanted to share a simple checklist to help you feel organized and ready.

So this post is a 2-for-1! First, I’ll give you some ideas for your maternity photo shoot. Then I’ll give you some ideas for your “labor bag”!

Preparing for Your Pregnancy Portrait Session

  • Choose Your Outfits: Select outfits that make you feel confident and beautiful. Flowing dresses, soft fabrics, and fitted tops often photograph well. Consider bringing a few options for variety.
  • Pamper Yourself: Schedule a manicure, pedicure, or hair appointment before your session to feel your best.
  • Bring Accessories: Consider accessories like statement necklaces, scarves, or sentimental items (like baby shoes) to personalize your photos.
  • Location and Timing: Discuss location options with your photographer. Outdoor settings like parks or gardens can be lovely, or we can shoot in the comfort of my studio. The best time for outdoor photos is usually during the golden hour (shortly after sunrise or before sunset).
  • Relax and Have Fun: Pregnancy portraits are a celebration of your journey. Relax, enjoy the experience, and let your natural beauty shine through!

A Special Tip

Don’t forget to pack a beautiful outfit for your pregnancy portrait session! I recommend choosing something that makes you feel confident and radiant. Flowing dresses, soft fabrics, and fitted tops all photograph beautifully.

Capture the Moment

Schedule your pregnancy portraits while you’re feeling your best (usually between 32-36 weeks). We’ll create stunning images that you’ll cherish for a lifetime, and you’ll feel relaxed knowing you’re prepared for your little one’s arrival.

Of course, if you have any questions about your maternity photo shoot, or what your pregnancy portraits will look like, just ask me!

Now, on to some ideas for the big day!
