This was such a special session for quite a few reasons. You see, once upon a time, a long time ago, I was a graduate student in the Department of Physiology working on my doctorate. If any of my followers have gone through that process in the biomedical field, you know how tough that can be. Lonnnnng hours of research and study. Most projects were failures but a small handful led to reward. Exhausting is an understatement.

This sweet boy’s grandmother was my saving grace during graduate school. She was always there for me to vent about my struggles and celebrate my success. She even taught me the small animal surgeries that were necessary for my dissertation research. I would have never made it through without the support of Jean.

Another reason this was such a special session is because this little guys mom was one of my first newborn clients years ago when I decided to turn a hobby into a small business. I left school early one day and set up in her living room with my small heater, some baskets and blankets. So much has changed! But at the same time so much is still the same. I feel so blessed when clients continue to bring me these tiny treasures. I could not wait to meet this little guy and wanted her session to be extra special for trusting me all those years ago.

Eli looked so precious in blue. His momma’s one request was a bear set up. Those are my favorite. There is literally nothing cuter than a newborn baby dressed like a baby animal lol.

I got this pretty new sage knit set from Maple Cottage Props. Eli loved being wrapped up so I thought I would use it on him.

A baby in a bucket is a close second favorite. Not all babies love it. I love this bucket and usually have to stuff things in the bottom but this little (big) guy fit right in!

I was excited to do these sibling photos. Jay is so sweet and easy going. He loved cuddling his new little brother.

Last but not least were the family photos. These were extra special because Jean was in some. I have known Jean since 2006. Emma used to come up to the lab when she was in high school. Here we are 13 years later and I’m photographing her with her beautiful new grandson.

So grateful I have met such wonderful people in my lifetime. Such a beautiful family!
