Embracing the Beauty of Motherhood with a Slidell, LA Maternity Session
My recent maternity session with Breann was a celebration of the beautiful journey into motherhood, capturing the magical moments as she eagerly awaits the arrival of their little one. Here are some of my favorite’s as she embraced the beauty of motherhood at her Slidell, LA maternity session.
The Story Behind Their Session
I met this sweet couple last fall for their pre-session consultation where we planned both their maternity session AND their newborn session. I love being able to capture both special milestones because it gives us the opportunity to coordinate both sessions to complement each other. You could see their excitement!
Portraits at Our Beautiful Studio
Our Covington, LA portrait studio provides the most perfect backdrop for maternity sessions. The serene landscapes and soft natural light provided the perfect canvas to capture the pure essence of this special time. It is more than just a picturesque setting; it is a comfortable environment for new moms to get ready, relax and enjoy this special time. We we planned their sessions, we knew we were going to use cream, baby blue and grey for their newborn session, so we matched those colors to their maternity session. I love the beautiful grey-blue dress she selected. It complemented nature in the fall so perfectly!
Session Highlights
We began their maternity session indoors for studio portraits. I was able to cut some fresh hydrangeas that were growing outside for her session. It was the perfect touch. After studio portraits we went outside under the beautiful large oak trees. Every frame spoke volumes about the anticipation, love, and excitement for their new baby.
Tips for a Successful Maternity Session
If you’re considering a maternity session of your own, here are a few tips based on Breann’s unforgettable experience:
- It’s never too early to plan! Maternity portraits are done between 30-34 weeks. Prior to your session you will visit the studio for your pre-session consultation appointment where we will plan out the details and review product options.
- Choose comfortable yet stylish outfits. Often, we will coordinate your session to match your newborn session and the environment. Outdoors at the studio looks different at different times of the year so it’s important to coordinate.
- Consider the best time of day for soft natural light. Your session will typically take place in the evening about two hours before sunset. That gives us plenty of time for both indoor portraits and outdoor when the sun is low in the sky.
- Plan to have dinner after! You will be dressed up and probably hungry after lol. There are lots of wonderful places nearby. Here are some of my favorites nearby in Covington LA:

I am so grateful to all of the expecting parents that allow me to mature such a special moment in their lives. The journey through motherhood is so precious.
