WHAT OTHERS ARE SAYING!

There are no words I could say that would describe how happy I am with the experience I’ve had with Annie! First of all, she is a baby whisperer! I was so nervous having to push my newborn session to 2 months, but my daughter’s pictures are better than I could have ever imagined. She was 100% worth the drive and the investment. You simply cannot go wrong choosing her! I can’t wait to display these lovely portraits in my home!

“I am sobbing.  I can’t even begin to express how much your words, kindness and beautiful work mean to me.  Forever grateful!”

I am still smiling! Annie is all things amazing and I can’t wait for another session with her. I wanted outdoor photos of my kids where they looked authentic, and she nailed it. I actually reached out to her about a newborn session, and after I explained what I really wanted she suggested we wait until my son could sit up unassisted to get the shots I had in mind. She was right of course, and I am so in love with the photos. On the actual day of the session the temp dropped into the 30’s! Annie said we could absolutely reschedule but I was too excited, so she brought blankets and kept my daughter smiling despite the cold. Annie captured such magical moments of my babies. My cup runneth over.

FAQ

Most asked questions

When should we book a newborn photographer in New Orleans?

Most newborn photographers in New Orleans and south Louisiana book up to 2-3 months in advance. I recommending reaching out in your 2nd trimester if you find a maternity or newborn photographer that you would love to work with as schedules fill up quickly. Personally, I limit myself to 4 newborns a month. Additionally, it takes a little time to plan out the session of your dreams. Want to leave plenty of time for your pre-session consultation.

What age should I have my newborn photographed?

Typically, it is recommended to schedule your newborn session within the first two weeks of life. At this stage babies sleep deeply so they can be safely posed in those sweet poses you see all over my website. Also, babies may begin to peal or develop baby acne (all completely normal), but it is nice avoiding that if possible. That being said, as a newborn photographer in New Orleans, while I prefer younger newborns, I am very successful in getting "newborn" style photos of babies of all ages. So don't hesitate to reach out if you missed that newborn window.

How do I prepare for my newborn session?

You don't have to stress about that AT ALL! All of the planning and designing will already have been done at your pre-session consultation so when you arrive at the studio I will have everything you picked out all set up. Prior to the session, I will send you "baby prep instructions" which are simple suggestions that will help your session go smoothly.

When are maternity photos taken?

I suggest planning to have your New Orleans maternity portrait session between 30-34 weeks. That way you are still pretty comfortable and to be honest, you never know when babies are going to decide to arrive.

Do you provide clothing?

For children and babies, YES! That is the best part! I have an extensive collection of vintage dresses, denim, and knits for boys and girls. This I feel is what helps your portraits with me stand out and become something extra special. For newborns, I provide every beautiful prop including luxurious knits, delicate dry flower headbands, and vibrant backdrops.

For adults, I believe everyone has their own unique style. We will work together at your consultation to go over color pallets and plan outfit options from your closet.

Who can I include in my custom New Orleans newborn session or portrait session?

Anyone you love! We are going to create something so special together. Art work that is going to fill your heart with joy every time you pass it in your home. Everyone and anyone that you cherish is welcome. Siblings, grandparents (I LOVE generational photos!), best friends, fur babies.......

Why did I become a New Orleans newborn photographer?

I love this story!  Hi!  I’m Annie and I’m a newborn photographer just outside of New Orleans, Louisiana.  When I was high school, I enjoyed photography.  I had an old film SLR and I would take pictures of everything.  My grandmother encouraged me.  We both also shared a love for Anne Geddes beautiful calendars with the most precious photos of little babies.  I always loved babies!  As a kid I always wanted to play “house” and loved being around younger cousins.

I thought I wanted to be a pediatrician when I was growing up because I loved children AND science.  I did an internship in the neonatal unit of a local New Orleans hospital but quickly learned that I preferred behind the scene science and decided to get a PhD in Physiology and then a post-doctoral fellowship in Neuroscience instead of seeing patients….but that’s a story for another day…..

In college I learned to develop my own film.   And so the obsession began.  I just wanted to photograph everything and so I did.  When my oldest daughter was born almost 22 years ago, I wanted those beautiful photos like I saw Anne Geddes create but at the time newborn photography wasn’t a thing.  So I took my precious newborn and my camera and I posed her in my moms apartment on a white pillow with rose petals from a vase of roses in the kitchen.  And just like that, I did my first newborn session.

After that one, friends wanted them of their little ones too. And others through word of mouth.  So here we are almost 22 years later and I’ve photographed 1000’s of newborns.  Each one was a gift.

I decided to do this professionally (though part-time) in 2012.  Believe it or not, I’m still part-time.  I am no longer a Neuroscientist but teach Biology at a local all girls high school.  And snuggle babies on the weekends.  Because of this, sessions are VERY limited.  Don’t wait to schedule your New Orleans newborn photography session.
